Horizon bought out Losi, and Losi is just the consultant/designer for any new products coming out under the Losi name.
Horizon looks at mass production costs, marketing expense, and ways to make a profit, which would include cutting corners when necessary to hit a price point.
Remember when the LST first came out?
Horrendous problems; snapping axles, bad JR receivers and servos, wimpy a-arms, Mach's dropping conrods left and right.
Well, these were due to profit margin decisions made by Horizon. Losi had absolutely no say in the financial aspect of mass producing the LST, they are simply outside contract consultants now.
Horizon owns their name and makes the financial decisions with or without Losi's input.
Like any large distributor, Horizon is very brutal in their negotiations on costs to manufacture a product with their overseas (Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong) manufacturers.
The "Land Overlord" manufacturer is more than likely the Taiwan factory that Horizon contracted with to make the LST.
They are simply cutting Horizon out of the picture and selling it direct to consumers overseas.
Here's an interesting one for you that will confirm this, because Horizon themselves try to cover it up.
Horizon sells a line of aircraft they call E-Flite. They sell helis, park flyers, and various planes under this name.
My Blade CP micro heli, comes from E-Flite.
The Taiwan manufacturer of E-Flite is a company called E-Sky.
The Blade CP is nearly identical to E-Sky's Honeybee CP2.
Every part is identical and interchanges.
There are a couple of parts that are cosmetically different, (like the Land Overlord shocks, tuned pipe, and cooling head), but they are a bolt on swap.
The E-Sky parts are significantly cheaper as well, and can be easily found on numerous r/c aircraft website stores.
E-Flite (Horizon) claims that their parts are superior to E-Sky's, and are priced higher to "reflect" the quality difference, and they warn customers that you "get what you pay for."
Don't believe it, all Blade CP parts come from the E-Sky factory.
I know for a fact that they are identical, as I have E-Sky parts bolted to my Blade CP, and there is no way you can tell the difference.
It performs exactly the same with E-Flite or E-Sky parts.
My LHS told me that he worked for a Taiwan manufacturer that literally stole and copied the Loctite spec sheets and used them to promote their generic, "but just as good as", version of Loctite.
They can't be sued for copyright or patent infringement, as they are outside the U.S.
No law firm in their right mind would fly to a foreign country and try to enforce U.S. laws there.
They would get zero cooperation.
All of a sudden, no one would understand English.
So, don't be surprised to find a massive supply of "Land Overlord" (that name just cracks me up) parts and rollers on eBay and website stores very shortly at extremely attractive prices.
Don't be fooled into thinking it's a cheap copy of an LST.
It probably isn't.
It's just the manufacturer trying to sidestep the middleman (Horizon), and make a few extra bucks for themselves.
Even though it looks cheaper, they are probably selling it at a much higher profit margin than the negotiated, per unit contract cost of an LST to Horizon.
A little competition always keeps everyone honest, or at least on their toes.

) )…Losi design le layout (châssis position………) mais ne monte rien…c'est horizons hobby qui s'occupe de ça…alors après…et je vais faire des recherches, je crois me souvenir que le layout, Horizon peux très bien le vendre a des chinois pour en faire une version moins cher (y a une version pirate du savage…ou je sais plus lequel)…Enfin bref…tout ça pour dire…que je pense que c'est plus une histoire de sous-sous rebondissant et de retour sur investissement que de "copie-pirates-des-caraïbes"…
